The U.S. Business Council in Iraq (USBCI) is a private nonprofit business consortium dedicated to promoting U.S. private sector investment in Iraq in a socially responsible manner. Our members believe that increased trade and American business investment in Iraq will benefit American firms and advance Iraqi economic development efforts – creating jobs and greater economic opportunity for both Americans and Iraqis.

The USBCI has recently been endorsed by U.S. Ambassador Stephen Beecroft, who accepted an honorary chairmanship.  Click here to read the letter.

In the words of Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki, the U.S. Business Council in Iraq “offers U.S. businesses the opportunity to lend their input and support to policies that establish long-term and mutually beneficial trade and investment ties between Iraq and the United States.” “We endorse and support the US Business Council in Iraq.  The Iraqi Government looks forward to working with the Council to strengthen the economies of Iraq and the United States and to create jobs and a better life for both Iraqis and Americans.”

In a letter to the Prime Minister, former U.S. Ambassador James Jeffrey concurred, saying that “The USBCI facilitates meaningful dialogue with both Iraqi and U.S. decision-makers” and “plays a key role in strengthening the commercial ties between the United States and Iraq.”
